This Privacy Policy explains how Lingotea handles information when you visit lingotea.com (the “Website”) or use a Lingotea mobile application (the “App”). The Website is an informational marketing website. The App provides account-based features, including cloud-saved learning progress and preferences. This Policy covers only the Website and App; it does not cover services or websites operated by others.

Information handled when you visit

When your browser requests a page or file, the Website’s hosting infrastructure processes ordinary technical information needed to deliver and secure that request. This can include your IP address, requested URL, date and time, browser and device details, referring page, and error or security information. The hosting provider may record some of this information in server or security logs under its own operational settings.

Lingotea does not use this Website to create visitor profiles, and does not request account details, payment information, or sensitive personal information. If you email us, we receive the email address, message, and any attachments you choose to send so we can respond and keep appropriate support records.

Information handled in the App

If you sign in using Google Sign-In, Lingotea receives account identification information needed to associate your sign-in with an App account. Google processes sign-in information under its own privacy terms. We do not describe Google’s collection or use of information here.

The App stores your learning progress and saved preferences with your account so those features can work. Lingotea also uses Firebase Analytics to understand App usage and Firebase Crashlytics to diagnose crashes and stability issues. These services may process app activity, device, and diagnostic information as part of providing analytics and crash reporting. The precise information collected can depend on the App configuration and your device settings.

If you submit feedback, a complaint, or another message through the App, Lingotea receives the content and any information you choose to include so we can review it and respond where appropriate. Please avoid including sensitive personal information unless it is necessary for your message.

Language selection and page interactions

On the home page, a small script reads your browser’s language preferences to direct you to the English or Vietnamese version of the Website. This choice is made in your browser; the Website does not store it as a preference or send it to Lingotea. You can also select a language using the links on the page.

The illustrative vocabulary selector on the Chinese concept page updates page text in your browser. It does not send or save your selection. The Website has no user accounts, learning progress tracker, or submitted forms.

Cookies, analytics, and advertising

As of the effective date above, this version of the Website does not set cookies or use analytics, advertising trackers, or embedded third-party content. The Website may use cookies or similar technologies in the future, including to understand site usage or support other features. If those practices change, we will update this policy to explain the technologies and their purposes and, where required by law, provide notice and obtain consent or offer controls before they are used. Your hosting provider may process technical request information as described above to deliver and protect the Website.

How information is used and shared

Technical request information may be processed by the Website’s hosting and infrastructure providers to deliver pages, maintain availability, diagnose errors, and protect the Website from abuse. App information is processed by Google Sign-In for authentication, Firebase Analytics for App usage analytics, and Firebase Crashlytics for crash reporting; cloud-saved learning progress and preferences are processed to provide the App’s account features. The specific cloud storage provider for that learning data has not been identified in this Policy. If you email us, your message is handled by Proton’s email service so we can respond and manage support. Information may also be disclosed when required by law or when reasonably necessary to protect Lingotea, users, or legal rights. As of the effective date above, the Website does not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. App-specific advertising and data-sharing practices should be reviewed against the App’s actual configuration. If our data practices change, we will update this policy and provide any notices or choices required by law.

Retention and security

Website server or security logs are retained according to the hosting provider’s operational settings. Support emails are kept for as long as reasonably needed to respond, resolve the matter, and maintain appropriate business records. Your choices and privacy rights

You can choose which language page to visit and use browser settings or privacy tools to limit the technical information transmitted with web requests. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction or deletion of personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing.
